Hello world! Thought I’d better give a quick update on how I’ve been since I’m going on my 19th day free of ______.com. Yes, I was a little worried about not having new losers prospects to share on my blog – o – therapy but I realized two things: first, there will always be a story from someone else I’ve heard about a crappy date or potential relationship or experience my own and two, I’ve only scratched the surface of what I want to share. Lastly, I’m not feeling healed yet of my hangovers so trust me, there’s so much more to come.
So this morning when someone asked me how things have been since I’ve been offline, I replied quite interesting. In fact, I’m feeling like a barrel of crude oil right now – in demand. =)
First off, NO – there hasn’t been any additional communication with GOP since I last wrote his final chapter. My girlfriend isn’t so sure that’s the end so we’ve made a wager – I will make her $5 dollars richer if he contacts me with a lame text like “Hello, how are you” or $10 dollars if he goes further and sends something a little deeper or does a pop up.
I told her I’m pretty certain he knows this last time really was is last shot, so I’m doubtful I’ll hear from him again. Good ridden!
Second, I went out Friday night and it was either the curls or the cleavage-peeping blouse, but I left the party with a feeling of “I’ve still got it”. I met several nice men and as bad as this may sound that I’ve ALREADY given them their places without knowing any of them, I’ll go ahead and share where I think they’ll go:
4th Place – The Retiree. A rather nice gentleman I met on my way to the restroom to fix my dance-floor damaged hair. He was very complimenting of me anyway and was a little too happy when I agreed to let him hop in on my photo op. I commented that he probably needed to retire because he strikes me as the type of man who is a regular at night clubs even though he was older. Not at all my type of guy, but I gave him my number anyway for the sake of well…giving me number.
3rd place – Memphis. This man is a little more up to par with his style and he’s a southern boy so yes, I’m a s-u-c-k-e-r or an accent! His approach was interesting and subtle, and after a few words were exchanged, we went to sit down and chatted some more. Memphis is full of ambition and has the type of attitude which tells me he is ready to conquer the word, but he’s fast talker. I like that he’s not afraid to relocate to pursue his professional dreams which is obvious since he’s moved from Tennessee to Pittsburgh then from DC to Los Angeles. Ambitious or on the run! LOL. During our discussions, he mentioned he was ready to settle down and not into casual dating or boning just for the hell of it. Sounds good to me, but there’s something about him that seems a little off. Oh, one more thing – when we first started talking he asked me if it was okay with me if he gave me his number and I said sure, why not? He said “Well because, I think my uncle is interested in you as well”. I replied “Who’s that?” He replies “that older man you were taking pictures with earlier”. Oh.
2nd place – Tall Glass of Wine. It was tough placing this man in second place, but that’s only because we’ve not been in contact as much as the one placing ahead of him, but still, I’m hoping something materializes with this one. I call him a Tall Glass of Wine because he is quite tall with a nice build, bald head and a great smile. He’s a mutual friend of the birthday girl who brought many of us together Friday night and his name sounds like a type of wine. It’s funny because as he told me his name I jokingly replied “Hello, my name is Chardonnay”. We started laughing even more when I told him something he’d probably heard for the 1,000,000th time – that he looked familiar like a celebrity. I told him he looked like a way cuter version of John Singleton. He got it and after some small talk, we too exchanged numbers agreeing we needed to stay in touch. What got me about this one? As I was waiting for my car (yes, valet lost my car) and working with shoes I’d been wearing for 5 hours though their comfort level expired at 2.5 hours, he sat with me waiting and performed one of the BEST foot massages ever! I mean really, who does that? Rub on a woman’s feet he just met? It was cute, because as he’s soothing my tootsies and we’re chatting and cracking jokes, his friend is in disbelief at what he’s doing to me and is snapping away with the camera phone for evidentiary purposes. I like this tall glass, and though I haven’t really spoken to him can tell his level of intelligence and variety in different things is right where I like it to be. We shall see, we shall see.
Last but not least…………..
1st place – Marcus. No, Marcus isn’t really his name but since we both joked about the old days of giving out fake names and I told him mine was always “Tiffany”, I like to call him by his alias for kicks. He is the one I spent the most time with towards the end of the night, and he has a personality that is out of this world and has a great smile and he’s honest and very direct and is full of charisma. In a matter of about 30 minutes or so, I’d learned about his past relationship, college life, taste in music and much much more. I like him thus far and he can certainly hold a conversation without any of those uncomfortable pauses. We’re planning on our post-meeting this Friday, so wish me luck. We’ll see how it goes.
So there you have it. This is what Miss Carmen has been up to since the cancellation of my on-line dating account and I have to say, business is definitely picking up.
But wait, there’s more. The return of Rescue 911. Don’t panic and start trying to scroll back through old posts, because I’ve not mentioned him here. Yet.
Stay breezy my peeps.
Carmen ~
Ahh!! So many new guys, I LOVE IT! I’m secretly rooting for tall glass of wine. He seems so sexy. Good luck doll!
(I closed my online dating account too, I’m going to try the real world for a bit, lol)
Ooh thanks for the luck wishes, cause you know we it all dealing with the dating scene. Tall glass of wine is a little slow to the draw, so thus far Marcus seems to be the strong front runner.
And as much as I hate the starting over process while getting to know someone new, it gives me the awesome cchance to establish ground rules. For instance, I’ve told the new ones Home Dates are NOT an option starting out because it just leads to potential booty call situations.
I shall continue with updates. Oh, and I’m proud of you for holding down the Adam moritorium! Hee hee
Excellent stuff – I’m happy to hear this and I hope that there are great things in store for you with one (or more!) of these guys!
Thanks Matt, I’ve missed you. =)
Yes, I’m hoping for something good and will try not to talk about any of them too much. Some how once you talk about the good, they end up going up in smoke.
Yay!!!!!! Glad to hear it because nothing strokes your ego better than feeling like you’ve still got it. Even better, you probably never really LOST anything but have just been wasting too much precious time with LOSERS!
Jessie, isn’t that the truth??!!! I somehow feel a little more empowered because I’m at least starting with a clean palatte… No residual hangovers in the way or any stragglers, you know?
Thanks for sharing.
First timer and this sounds like some good stuff. I guess I should take the time to analyze the people I meet and what they’re working
with so I can easily weed them out too.
Welcome Curious!
Yes…the process of elimination. Meeting people in person and getting the chance to know them before the numbers get exchanged has always been the biggest plus vs online dating. Still, I do miss the .com dating scene because the amount of variety to choose from well… increases the odds right?
That’s uh, a lot of dudes in one night. Work it, girl!
And a foot massage? After just meeting someone? Nope. Move that down to 9th place. Out of 4.
These all sound like guys that approached you… maybe you need to find the guy that needs approached! More fun for you anyway.
Updates, please.
Caleb! My brainiac soon-to-be-law-student, how the heck are you???
So no go on the foot massage?? LOL I thought it was quite interesting but with my tootsies feeling like they were on fire and being ripped from my body, I didn’t care. Besides, he was nice chatting with.
As always, you give me cause to pause… ABSOLUTELY! They all approached me and as my mum tells me, I’m having issues with men because they’re choosing me and not the other way around.
I’m still working on that “hit on a cute dude and make it happen”. Item # 2,199 on my list. =)
