In a happy place… for now

Things are going pretty well on the “situation” front with Rescue. I’m happy to announce that………………………………………………………

Re-training is going successfully!

Of course, just like that new puppy who needs to be taught that peeing on the carpet or chewing on the curtains is a no-no a couple of times before he gets it, the same applies with Rescue learning the do’s and don’t’s.

Do’s:

– continue being consistent when it comes to daily contact
– keep the “I love you’s” coming
– continue to share your goals/ideas/dreams with me
– remember what better happen in 4 months
– keep a smile on my face

#1 Don’t? Failure to communicate when he’s working late or doing studio time. A reminder for anyone- all it takes is a quick call OR text saying “I’m running late”.

Still, so far, sans a minor hiccup or two, he’s doing pretty well.

Oh yes, a little thing to share is that we’ve both changed our names. I no longer am called Carmen and he is no longer Rescue- we are both now known as “Babe”, “Baby”, “Honey” or “Sweetie”.

Corny, right? Yes it is but its true and it doesn’t even sound right addressing him by his name so these endearing terms work fine.

Unless of course one of us #ucks up, and not that I’m perfect in any situation (pretty darn close), it is normally him.

I’m chuckling just thinking about the last time I got annoyed with him and called him by his name. His expression? Priceless because the poor guy looked like I splashed bleach in his eye or something as he stared in disbelief.

The good news? The annoyance doesn’t last long. A bonus about Rescue is that he is not the overly aggressive person who likes to argue. Where I am the irrational “my way or the highway” type of jack rabbit, he is the patient hare who rationally rationalizes.

A nice balance.

Saying all of this, I’m in a happy place right now. BUT, I did have a not-so-happy moment this past weekend while at Knott’s Berry Farm.

I had a flashback for this was the place where I had my very first meeting and date with Mr. Jekyl. Ah… The one who almost ended my desire to ever date again.

Ugh.

More on that later but for now- I’ve got an appointment with a few long lost friends named Elliptical and Stairmaster.

Getting closer to the cure for the hangover…

Hangover - a let down following great excitement or excess. Wow. This one sentence describes nearly all of my dating and relationship experiences!

I'm a 30 year-old woman muddling through the Los Angeles dating scene and yes - Believe all that you've heard about the screwed up men and women in La-La Land.

This blog is of my actual experiences that will either make you chuckle, laugh out loud or maybe say "aw.....".

If your dating hangovers seem worse than the next person's, read on, post a comment and enjoy!

  1. I’m glad someone is in a happy place… I can’t catch and feel like a crap magnet.

    Can we clone Rescue?

    1. Yes Esme, so far!!

Kimme… Slow down! Clone? LOL. He is a good guy but isn’t without flaws and a fe nagging things I don’t like about him.

I won’t dare say this is the greatest but its working for me, for now.
