Balance

We met on Sunday, have talked each and every day since then with many texts in between.

Tonight is our first official date, although we both were itching to make it happen much earlier during the week.

It was last Friday when I sat with a good friend, explaining for the 1,000,000th time how I had no explanation for why I have been cursed with meeting certain men. Right at that moment, she told me to go with the older man.

Huh? Now you’re sounding just like my mother I told her but the friend just laughed at me. While I’m thinking 37 years old is like a 100 year-old tree on its last leaf so far as dating is concerned, she tells me “You’re STILL young, but the men your age and below are young in the mind and in their actions.”

So I’ve done it; stopped passing up the 45+ who have contacted me online and gave one a chance and I am LOVING it.

I can’t say enough positives about him.

Enter the hope-he-isn’t-a-hangover, Balance.

Good luck to me!

Hangover - a let down following great excitement or excess. Wow. This one sentence describes nearly all of my dating and relationship experiences!

I'm a 30 year-old woman muddling through the Los Angeles dating scene and yes - Believe all that you've heard about the screwed up men and women in La-La Land.

This blog is of my actual experiences that will either make you chuckle, laugh out loud or maybe say "aw.....".

If your dating hangovers seem worse than the next person's, read on, post a comment and enjoy!

  1. (P.S. I just noticed that Something She Dated is in your blogroll; I just discovered the other day that my blog reader had been failing to pick up her new posts for the last two months. I thought that she just hadn’t written in a while, but actually she’s written lots! Just thought I’d let you know in case the same thing might have happened to you.)

    1. Yes, yes – I’m trying something new and thanks for the heads up on Something’s site. I follow her on Twitter at times (though I’m still a little tweet-tarded).

What about you? I hope you’ll fire up old sparky and put something out there once in a while.

      1. I wrote a couple of brief updates last month, but basically things are about the same for me, which is fine, but I don’t really feel like I have much to blog about. Well, unless I start ranting about politics or something, but that doesn’t seem in keeping with the stated genre of my blog!

        1. Oh no, political rants? Nah… Not your style and I enjoyed your writing. Perhaps now is just a time to sit behind the scenes and take in the perils of dating smut. All reasons to act right and not fuc_ up a relationship!

  2. Interesting and very promising name for this one, Carmen. I can’t really offer any feedback because I have always dated much younger men.

The “balance” between individuals with about 7 or more years age differences is often present. The younger may mellow the older out, the older may help the younger to mature.

I’m happy that you’re happy and will await your updates.
